Proper Preparation
Once you've applied and been admitted, it's time to prepare for class to start. Make sure these three things are in place:
- Technology: Ensure you’ve got the laptop, tablet or mobile phone requirements to access Georgia State's iCollege classes.
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi may seem like it's everywhere, but make sure you have a way to access internet connectivity on a regular basis.
- Workspace: If possible, assign yourself a dedicated space where you'll complete your classwork. Students tell us this improves focus and can help get assignments completed on time.

Online Success Mindset
You juggle competing priorities every day. As you prepare to add college to your schedule, know that we have an array of resources and support systems in place to support you in and out of the online space. We host workshops that cover every topic of interest and have staff and faculty at the ready to help you tackle the common questions and concerns students have. Whether you're returning to college after a long break, are a first-time college student or are transferring in from another institution, we are committed to helping you realize your educational dreams at Georgia State.
The Right Timing
As you consider which online program best fits your career goals and education needs, you're also likely thinking about whether it's the right time for you to go back to school. Good timing looks different for every student. We can help you think through a schedule that fits into your life. Learning online does require the ability to focus on coursework for a dedicated amount of time each week. Your online class may not have a scheduled time to meet, but your success mindset should include planning for the time you need to participate in online discussions, complete assignments and prepare for projects or presentations.

Winning Strategies
In addition to making sure your connectivity and technology are ready for the start of classes each semester, also make time to look over each class syllabus before the first day. Note deadlines and requirements. Set calendar reminders for yourself for when it’s time to study and when assignments are due. We even have an app for that.
