Nursing, R.N. to B.S.
Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions
Beginning Fall semester 2022, Georgia State University's RN-to-BS program joins a collaborative academic agreement, which allows our program to deliver certain courses common to the RN-to-BS program of study with other nursing programs in the University System of Georgia. See the new application deadline and additional information in the tabs below. Complete information on the new fall admission and collaborative agreement here.
Georgia State’s online R.N. to B.S. program is designed for practicing registered nurses with an associate degree or nursing diploma in nursing. In just three semesters, you can complete your core nursing curriculum* and receive your bachelor of science in nursing. The program prepares nurses at an advanced level to meet the challenges of today’s complex healthcare environment. Hospitals and healthcare organizations throughout our area seek bachelor’s prepared nurses, and it’s well known what a shortage of nurses our hospitals are facing. By holding a bachelor’s degree, you will be eligible for more opportunities, and you also will be ready to move into master’s level work, which will help you become an advanced practice nurse. Transfer pathway agreements are in place with many community colleges. Accreditation and Approvals: The School of Nursing is approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), a national accreditation agency for nursing schools. See the CCNE website or the Georgia Board of Nursing website for more information. *The courses you will take will depend on your previous coursework and transcripts. Your adviser will help determine any prerequisites courses you may need to complete your B.S. degree. In general, students are limited to no more than four prerequisite courses to be accepted for admission. Georgia State’s School of Nursing is the only nursing college in Georgia that offers the full spectrum of nursing education, from associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. Although you will be learning primarily online, our downtown campus location and the extensive healthcare network available to you will be extremely advantageous. We know you are working full time and balancing a tremendous number of obligations as you consider coming back to school. Our commitment to you is that your success matters to us. We will support you every step of your journey.Political Science, B.A., Pre-Law Concentration
