Criminal Justice Administration, M.I.S.
Criminal Justice and Criminology
The online Master of Interdisciplinary Studies (M.I.S) in Criminal Justice Administration at Georgia State’s Andrew Young School of Policy Studies blends courses in criminal justice and criminology with managerial principles and practices in public management.
The criminal justice system is affected and influenced by social, political and economic factors. The online criminal justice program’s approach will have you studying these interconnected facets, including:

Criminal Justice
What Is Criminal Justice?
Criminal justice is the system of practices and institutions of governments directed at upholding social control, deterring and mitigating crime, sanctioning those who violate laws and delivering penalties and/or rehabilitation efforts.
Why Study Criminal Justice?
Criminal justice courses offer a balanced introduction to the three facets of the criminal justice system: policing, courts and corrections. Students gain insight into criminal courts, security, police and corrections operations. They identify the legal, social and technological challenges in the criminal justice field. The study of criminal justice often serves as an introduction for students planning to attend law school.
A note on pathways: A pathway is an advising guide to help students prepare for their intended bachelor's degree major. By following the course of study outlined in the appropriate Associate of Arts or Associate of Science pathway, students will have the necessary prerequisite courses to continue in their chosen disciplines. Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology
Designed by award-winning faculty in criminal justice and criminology research, Georgia State’s online Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice degree will help you advance in your career.
The program offers two academic concentrations: Crime and Justice or Legal Studies. The Crime and Justice concentration provides a blend of traditional criminal justice curriculum and forward-thinking emphasis on digital criminology, while the Legal Studies concentration is designed for criminal justice majors desiring more intensive exposure to law, often in preparation for law school. Students may also elect to pursue a minor in Digital Criminology along with the bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

Dental Hygiene
The Georgia State online dental hygiene bachelor of science degree program is for registered dental hygienists who already have an associate degree. This online bachelor’s completion program will help you advance in the profession by giving you the education you need to move into other roles, such as: providing clinical instruction for future hygienists, attending graduate school or moving to roles outside of clinical practice.
As the first tier-one research university in the Atlanta metro to offer an R.D.H. to B.S. degree completion program, we are ready to help you succeed. Georgia State is nationally recognized for our student success initiatives and helping students like you advance in your profession is part of our core mission.
The online B.S. in Dental Hygiene includes 10 courses to provide coursework necessary to enable graduates to advance to more marketable positions in the profession. All courses are fully online and are three credit hours each.
Disruptive Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Graduate Certificate
Entrepreneurship & Innovation Institute
Hatching an idea is one thing. Executing it is a whole different ball game. Many great ideas fail because the people behind them lack the skills to bring them to fruition. Robinson’s Certificate in Disruptive Innovation and Entrepreneurship fills that knowledge gap.
Over the course of the program, students not only explore tools that stimulate creative thinking but also design compelling value propositions, develop viable and profitable business models, and learn to pitch to investors.

Doctor of Nursing Practice, D.N.P.
School of Nursing
For those called to seek the highest level of clinical nursing practice, the Georgia State doctor of nursing practice (D.N.P.) hybrid program is your solution. You will finish the program ready to lead others to implement cost-effective practices that also improve outcomes.
A majority of our D.N.P. students work full-time, and still, they are preparing for work in:
- healthcare administration;
- professional nursing organizations;
- higher education; and
- many practice settings throughout Georgia.
You will move through the program as a cohort of colleagues, allowing you to network with industry leaders and build relationships that last well beyond graduation.
*The hybrid program combines online (web-facilitated) classes with a limited number of on-campus sessions. Students attend on-campus sessions (also known as intensives) one day at the beginning of each fall and spring semester. The web-facilitated classes are a combination of real-time and on-demand courses.
Dual Language Immersion Early Childhood Education Endorsement
Early Childhood and Elementary Education
In response to the growing number of Georgia schools with Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs, the College of Education & Human Development’s Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education offers a fully online endorsement in Dual Language Immersion. A valuable asset in a world of global connections, bilingualism is an advantage that parents want for their children regardless of their native tongue.
This online endorsement program is designed to prepare teachers like you to meet this need, to be sensitive and responsive to the needs of dual language immersion learners' and to be advocates for DLI in a variety of educational settings. Coursework is designed to address effective learning environments for bilingual students and methods and materials for engaging DLI students in challenging educational experiences.
The program develops highly prepared teachers who understand DLI education and are teacher-leaders in establishing learner-centered classrooms consistent with the standards of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium. It is open to students who are enrolled in a foreign language certification program at Georgia State University and to current educators who hold a Level 4 or higher induction or professional foreign language education certificate from the state of Georgia. The endorsement qualifies successful candidates to teach in kindergarten through fifth-grade dual immersion classrooms.
Credits earned in this program can be applied to the online Master of Education in Elementary Education with a concentration in Dual Language Education.
Economics
Leveraging Georgia State University’s internationally renowned economics faculty and research centers, the STEM-designated online Master of Arts (M.A.) in Economics program at GSU’s Andrew Young School of Policy Studies takes a pioneering approach to economics that emphasizes public policy and empirical evaluation. The online master’s program builds on a top-ranked face-to-face program that has proven successful over the years and continues its operations besides the online version.
Our broad and customizable curriculum combines the latest theoretical advances with the analytical skills and practical experience you’ll need to tackle the complex problems facing analysts and economists today. As a student in our innovative program, you’ll learn the fundamentals of economic theories as they apply to:

The economics master's degree prepares you for:
- Careers in the private sector and in local, state and federal government.

At Perimeter College, students take introductory gateway courses in education that help them to explore issues related to the teaching profession. The courses include the history and foundation of the field of education, critical issues associated with the field, diversity issues in strategies and education to support 21st-century learners.
If you are excited by the idea of working with children and introducing them to ideas they will carry for a lifetime, the educational field may be for you. At Perimeter College, students may study Early Childhood, Middle Grades, Secondary School or Special Education. Students also may study Health/Physical Education.
Students focusing on Early Childhood, Secondary Education or Health/PE may take many courses online, but some courses may require campus attendance. Students concentrating in Special Education or Middle Grades or Health/PE may take required classes online.
