The good thing about Georgia State Online is that you can go to one of the nation's top-rated schools from anywhere in the world. But did you know that if you graduated from a high school in Georgia, you are eligible to receive extra financial aid?
The Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally (HOPE) Scholarship has provided more than $10 billion in financial assistance for educational programs beyond high school. The HOPE Scholarship is a merit-based award available to Georgia residents who have demonstrated academic achievement. A HOPE Scholarship recipient must graduate from high school with a minimum 3.00 grade point average (as calculated by GSFC) and maintain a minimum 3.00 cumulative postsecondary grade point average to remain eligible. The scholarship provides tuition assistance to students pursuing an undergraduate degree at a HOPE Scholarship eligible college or university in Georgia.
You are eligible to use your HOPE benefits for up to seven years or ten years, respectfully, following the student's high school graduation, GED test date, home study completion date, or date of petition to receive a high school diploma. That means that if you are a Georgia resident thinking about going back to school the time is now!
Online students who meet the requirements for the HOPE scholarship are eligible to receive their awarded funds as a Georgia State student. Right now, GSU receives one of the highest awarded amounts per credit hour among Georgia universities. Plus, each student receives the payment for 127 semester or 190 quarter hours.
The Hope Scholarship is one of many amazing opportunities that Georgia State Online students can take advantage of to make college more affordable.
